Treatment Summaries

This brand-new e-learning resource within the Learning Hub provides learners with a comprehensive overview of Treatment Summaries, including aims and benefits, what makes a good treatment summary and the consequences when a treatment summary is not available.  It includes interviews with professionals and an animated case study written by a person with lived experience of cancer. This resource supports best practice and person-centred care and provides practical tips from professionals on how treatment summaries can be introduced into practice.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a conversation style which has been developed over the past 40 years. It focusses on the language of change and can support people to explore and resolve ambivalence. Macmillan currently offers an eLearning course and virtual classroom on the topic. These are for healthcare professionals looking to develop their questioning and communication skills in talking with patients about change. MI may be helpful when supporting patients before and after treatment, lifestyle behaviour changes on topics such as diet, smoking, alcohol consumption or engaging in screening programmes. MI can be used in a variety of healthcare settings.
