What is the ePortfolio?
The ePortfolio aligns with the ACCEND framework and includes specialty-specific variations for cancer pathways, facilitating tracking of completed and ongoing professional development. It serves as a Professional Development Platform for healthcare professionals, offering a centralized location for Continuing Professional Development (CPD), career guidance, appraisal support, and evidence for revalidation.
Who is the ePortfolio for?
The ePortfolio is designed to support continuous learning and development for the entire healthcare workforce, regardless of their role or level of practice if you are in the non-medical workforce. It is flexible, allowing individuals to tailor its use according to their level of practice, professional experience, and career aspirations.
What is the Learning Library?
The Learning Library is an open repository of resources mapped to the ACCEND framework. It will be continually updated to ensure relevance and value. The library simplifies the process of logging learning and supports standardization across the platform. If you have a resource to suggest, to benefit your entire team, you can let the team know.
• When you register for your account, ensure you select the right cancer alliance from the drop-down menu (only certain cancer alliances hold licenses).
• On your first login, select your level of practice. Seek support from your manager or contact the team if unsure.
• The ePortfolio empowers you to take charge of your learning and career development. It helps document achievements and set future goals.
• It facilitates more informed appraisal discussions, allowing you to select specific capabilities that enhance patient care or support team members in achieving their career aspirations.
• It provides valuable insights into workforce engagement with capability frameworks and their integration into practice. The data helps identify areas to support workforce retention, encourage education opportunities where gaps exist, and minimize duplication of effort in content creation aligned to ACCEND.
• Watch the 'how-to' video: This will help you get started with using the platform.
• Log in regularly: Use the platform to document your learning and development gradually.
• Ongoing process: Understand that healthcare professionals have varied levels of experience, and it's okay if not all CPD and capabilities are documented retrospectively. Treat this as an ongoing process.
• Team Skill Mix: A feature will be added for team leads and line managers to add their staff, identify potential single points of dependency, areas for upskilling, and understand how their workforce comprehends ACCEND.
• Personal Dashboards: The 'About Me' profile page will include sections for current job role, job description upload, CV, publications, awards, educational qualifications, previous PDR uploads, goal setting from the latest PDR, and key priorities for the next year. It will also enable PDF generation and revalidation form storage.
• Enhancements: The ePortfolio will be continuously improved to meet workforce needs and remain fit for purpose. Updates and improvements will be shared regularly.
